Horse of a Different Color

Thursday night, Ellette and I went to the bookstore to meet the Yarn Harlot and have a book signed, and boy, did we have a fantastic time.  The whole room was laughing, some to the point of crying and I think I may have heard one woman hyperventilating in the corner.

I bought Ellette a Fancy Nancy book (or rather, she spent most of her allowance on it and I pitched in the rest after the promise of good behavior).  Ellette is always excited to be included in things, even if they have the potential to be boring to a 6 year old.   She did find some things amusing, however, and was really happy to be the one to hand the book to Stephanie for the signing.

I took with me my new work in progress that I started before leaving.  I have named it the Keyhole Cowl and finished it yesterday afternoon.

The sample was made out of Blue Sky Alpaca Organically Grown Cotton and I used most of a single skein.  It’s a weird mustardy color however, and I can’t for the life of me remember why I bought it.  I figured, a yarn that I don’t really care for will do just fine for a sample knit.  And, while several people have admired the design and even the color, no one will take it off my hands.  I am going to make another (or two or three) because it is such an awesome little thing and I need to double check my pattern.  When that is complete, it will be available to you!

In the meantime, I really need to work to work on this project with the plastic bags.
