The following may not be the best pictures, I apologize, but I was kind of rushed leaving the house this morning.  I started packing last night for my trip to Boulder next week and I found myself completely stumped on the knitting to accompany me.  I have several projects in-process that I was considering, but I am not content with where they are now and how well they will travel.  They are too close to being finished or require too much yarn to be feasible.  Also, I can’t seem to find the other green ball for Caitlin’s second sock, or that would definitely be in the bag.  (This seems to be a trend with me)  I do not want to take up half my suitcase with works-in-progress, although I’m sure if that’s the only thing I had to work on, I would knock out a bunch of the queue.  Anyway, deciding I might as well start a new, more travel-friendly project, I dove into the stash and pulled up a few prospects.

460 yards of beautiful lace weight.  I am completely in love with these colors and the yarn is amazingly soft.  I’m thinking about making something like this Feather Dust Shawl, or this Everdeen, or maybe this Fragile Heart I’ve wanted to make for awhile.  This would make a good bus/plane project, since I can afford a little more attention to detail for lace work.

Then, there are plain vanilla socks for mindless knitting between classes or at the bar, or while I’m laying in the hotel room trying to relax so I can go to sleep.  I have “Bread and Butterflies” by Three Irish Girls, or (already wound) Noro Silk Garden Sock.  The Noro may actually make a good mesh top like this one if I wanted to bother with counting and modifying a pattern.

Lastly, I have two balls of 500 yards in worsted weight that are also options.  One is destined to be workout shorts (the rainbow one in the back) and the other one (red in front) is undetermined.  I was thinking a nice vest like This Minisweater, or Embrace, or Watershed.  Or, just cranking out one of the designs that’s been floating around in my head.

I’m looking at this color palette and kind of chucking to myself over here.  My world has been generating rainbows lately.  I think it’s really kind of lovely.

What are your thoughts on the project(s) to take along?  Is there one that stands out in particular?

I like the everdeen pattern and socks. Socks are always good. Enjoy.
