About Little Green Pixie

I am a fiber artist.  Of sorts.  Little Green Pixie was first germinated when I, Anna, was in the 10th grade at a performing arts high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  I made my first set of wings out of pantyhose, ribbon, and coat hangers. These wings I eventually gave to my young niece, who adored them, and I set about revising the technique.

In my first year of college, age 17, I came across a technique using recycled tissue paper.  I enjoyed working with the glue mixture and molding the wire and paper to create a new, sturdier set of wings.  My daughter’s head caregiver at the Children’s Center she attended while I was in school, loved them so much she offered to buy them from me, which spawned the realization that I was, perhaps, on to something.

I spent 3 1/2 years working toward a degree in Anthropology, soaking up all of the information I could on history, mythology, and archaeology, which just furthered my obsession with faery lore and art.  I encouraged my young daughter to explore our backyard in search of faeries, learning about nature and caring for the earth while she was at it.

Once I graduated, I toyed with the idea of continuing my education, but decided to put it on the back burner while I instead pursued my work in faery art.  I began branching out, doing all sorts of renaissance shows and traveling the country.

I briefly dated a full-time juggler who taught me many useful tricks in performance, marketing, and helped me find the courage to do more with myself.  I went to the Arizona Renaissance Festival with him in 2008 and created a street character called Sprout – the Storytelling Elf, which inspired a whole new genre for me to work in.  When I returned to Wisconsin 3 months later, I created a new character – Pixie – and began working with theatre groups and private parties, face painting, storytelling, and using “pixie antics” to entertain children.

Currently, I am living in Evanston, Illinois.  I have many paths laid out before me, and I’m doing much more than twiddling my thumbs while I’m here!  My daughter loves being able to tell people her mother is “a professional faery” and I enjoy the polite confusion that crosses their faces as they try to understand whatever she could mean!

My work is available at several stores:

Sparrow Collective in Bay View, WI
Brewed Cafe in Milwaukee
Dandy Things in Long Grove, IL
Other Brother Coffeehouse in Evanston, IL

My work is also available for purchase online at:
